it was the lead ship of the Project 667A Navaga class, the Soviet Navy’s first second-generation SSBN equipped with
16 nuclear ballistic missiles in a dual-row vertical casing. It was officially given the honorific name
Leninets (“Leninist”) in April 1970 and served until its decommissioning in 1994
