B212.Russian badge for the Pacific Fleet nuclear attack submarine, K-391 “Bratsk” Akula-I class.
Commissioned in December 1989 as K-391, the vessel was originally given the name Kit (“Whale”)
in 1993. It was renamed Bratsk in September 1997 after the city in Irkutsk Oblast established patronage
ties with the crew. Operating with the Pacific Fleet’s 45th Submarine Division out of Kamchatka, Bratsk
compiled an active operational history in the 1990s tracking foreign submarines before being placed in long-term reserve.
