B219.Russian nuclear-powered strategic ballistic missile submarine K-18 “Karelia” Delta IV-class.
Commissioned in October 1989 into the Northern Fleet, K-18 was given the honorific name Karelia
in 1996. Notably, Russian President Vladimir Putin embarked on K-18 Karelia in 2000 to observe major
strategic missile exercise launches in the Barents Sea. Following extensive mid-life refits to carry Sineva SLBMs,
it remains an active SSBN based out of Gadzhiyevo.
